PDP Optional: Early Level Myouren Temple and the Mausoleum

When you are headed to Eientei for the storyline, you also have the option of heading to Myouren Temple immediately. There isn't anything to do storyline-wise here yet, but it does have Puppets to catch and trainers to fight!

So, here is the completely optional guide to early-level Myouren Temple and the Mausoleum.

So, instead of heading down to the route leading to The Bamboo Forest of the Lost, you instead want to head right, and up some steps. A Novice Puppeteer (Hiroki) will challenge you here with a level 17 Keine.
Continue on and fight a Tomboy (Azumi), who will use a level 14 Benben, level 14 Yatsuhashi, and a level 14 Kyouko.
In the grass below her is a Rascal (Taketo), who uses a level 15 Mystia and a level 15 Kyouko.
Now head up, and enter the Temple area. There isn't much to do in this immediate area, but do head to the right and up one set of steps to pick up a Yin Yang Orb containing Myouren Tea. To the left of the Temple is a fenced off area with a building inside. If you go in there, you will find a Yin Yang Orb containing a Healing Charm.
Keep heading left from there and up a set of steps to some grass. Here, you can capture Murasa, Shou (rarely), Kyouko, and Ichirin, as well as higher-leveled Nazrin. You can also get Byakuren here, but she is extremely rare. I ran around for a while farming for a decent Shou, and only encountered 1 Byakuren the entire time.

If you head up past there, you'll enter the Myouren Temple Cemetary.
To the left and up is a Ghost (Genji) who will send out a level 18 Tojiko. Back down and to the right and then up is another Ghost (Taeko), this one with a level 18 Youmu.
As a note here, due to the Tojiko on that first ghost, remember that Healing Charm you may have picked up earlier? Equip that to whatever Puppet you are sending out first so that it can cure itself of Paralysis.
The grass here contains Kogasa, Youmu, Yoshika, Yuyuko, and Mima (very rare).

Head up from either side and then towards the center, where you'll see Kogasa. Before talking to her, however, go pick up the nearby Yin Yang Orb containing a Sugilite Hairpin. This Hairpin will boost the power of Nether-type moves.
Kogasa will challenge you if you speak to her, she sends out a level 17 Kyouko and a level 17 Kogasa. Head to the right next and then up, where Yoshika will challenge you with three level 16 Yoshika.

Head up past Yoshika and to the right through the grass. Now, down the steps and through the cave. There isn't really anything in here aside from Puppets to capture: Seiga, Futo, Tojiko, and Miko. Miko is the rare Puppet here.
If you head out and go back to Yoshika, you can head down the nearby steps and fight the two ghosts down there, or you can just head out back the way you came and then go down to Eientei instead.
The ghost to the left has a level 18 Yuyuko. The ghost to the right has a level 18 Tojiko.

And that's all there is to do here, so it's time to head to Eientei!

Thank you to an Anonymous commenter for adding that Mima can also be found in the grass here.

  1. You forggot that also Mima appears here, but she is one of the most rare puppets in the game. I was fortunate to encounter her the first try

    1. Oh! I didn't know she spawns there! I wasn't really going through looking for all the Puppets as my main focus was just getting the game walkthroughs going, and then I'm redoing them later, but I will definitely add that in right now! Thank you!
