PDP Guide Part 4: Forest of Magic

Part 3 can be found here.

Ok, so Forest of Magic is a rather complicated area as far as areas in this game go. Not as bad as the Scarlet Devil Mansion Basement, but...well, we'll get there.
Anyway, I just want to say that while I do explore a bit of the Forest of Magic in this guide, I probably missed some stuff, so take this guide with a grain of salt as far as completion goes.

First off, you can catch Star Sapphire, Luna Child, Sunny Milk, and Alice here. I recommend getting all your catching done in the first patch of grass as you enter, because you can easily go back to Kourindou to heal any damage you take tanking that turn when you use Thread. There's an exception for capturing Alice though, as she's rare, and you'll probably encounter her while running through the forest anyway. Oh, and if you feel low on thread, head back to Kourindou because Rinnosuke, wonderful man that he is, sells Thread. I only just found this out and it's amazing because I only had one Thread left.
After you're done in that bit of grass, head down and fight the Fairy (Miria). She'll send out a level 12 Daiyousei and a level 12 Cirno. Keep heading down to the fork in the road.

Another note: Fairies, like Youkai, also have multiple sprites for the same trainer title. The ones like Miria will be referred to as "purple Fairy," the ones with brown hair are "brown Fairy," and the blonde fairies are "sunflower Fairies" (because they carry sunflowers in their battle sprites).

You have a choice of paths here; head right.

Head down through the grass and fight the purple Fairy (Norma) down there who uses a level 14 Sunny Milk. Continue down and then go right through the mud. Pick up the Yin Yang Orb there which contains Rosary Beads. Then head to the right to another fork. There is nothing on the upper path, so take the lower one. At the next fork, don't turn down the path now, but instead go up through the grass and pick up the Yin Yang Orb that contains a Seal Thread. Now head down. Fight the brown Fairy (Sharo) who will use a level 11 Star, Luna, and Sunny. Head down past her to yet another fork. Down, or to the left (to the right is useless)? Well, down will take you to another map, so go to the left first. But do remember this spot because we're going to come back to it.
To the left, continuing along the path, you'll fight another brown Fairy (Liz), this one using two level 12 Lunas. The path then goes left through some grass. Continue straight through another patch of grass. When you see a purple-haired fairy walking around, you're in the right place. Here, there's actually three ways to go. Head up, and look, there's Alice's house!

Head on in and talk to Alice. She's super nice and will heal you. She will instruct you to visit the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

Okay, so here's where we now start exploring the forest a bit. If you don't want to explore here, please skip the next paragraph.

Below Alice's house, go left through the grass, then up through more grass. There's a Sunflower Fairy walking about up here (she doesn't fight you though). Keep going up until you see some stairs. Then go up and fight the purple Fairy (Koko) who uses a level 14 Star. There's more stairs up past her, and a Yin Yang Orb containing an Antidote Charm. Head back down to the Sunflower Fairy, then go right, and then up through some grass. Fight the purple Fairy (Pino) here; she uses two level 12 Lilys. Past her is some grass, and past that is a bridge. Cross the bridge. There's a fork here, so head up and pick up a Yin Yang Orb containing an Emerald Hairpin. To the right of that are two fairies who won't fight you. Go right past them and down. Fight the purple Fairy (Tail) who uses a level 12 Luna and a level 12 Star. Then head back up to the two fairies.  Go back to the left and down, then head straight down through the grass. Follow that path until you get to a ledge that goes down. Hop down that. Continue through the grass, then turn left as soon as you can. This brings you back to Alice's house. If you go inside, on the back right wall there's a door, and in there is a bed where you can heal, so I highly advise doing that.

From Alice's House now, we want to go all the way down and then right. Keep going right through the next set of grass too. Down past the dead trees and brown Fairy. Right past the Sunflower Fairy. When you get to the crossroads-like area with the brown dirt in the center, go down. This brings you to a new area.

Here, there's a fork. Go left first. There's a bridge here and a purple Fairy (Aniese) who will fight you with a level 14 Cirno. She introduces herself as a member of the Liberation Front Forest of Magic Branch. Left past her is a Yin Yang Orb containing an Opal Hairpin. Head back up to the crossroads, and go up and out of this area gain.

Now, keep going up past the brown Fairy. Then right. At the next fork, go right again. Then up. When you see the purple Fairy, go right through the grass. When you reach the dead tree, go up, past the next purple Fairy. Keep going up until you see the brown Fairy, then turn right. Congratulations, you are out of Frustrating Labyrinth Number 1! Now, we're headed to a worse one, but oh well...

Anyway, speak with the healer Youkai outside Kourindou if you like, and then head inside and talk to Rinnosuke. He will give you a Bicycle, which you can use by pressing the Shift key! So yay, we can finally move faster!
Anyway, Rinnosuke will instruct you to head to Eientei to find a way to cut down some trees that are blocking the path to Scarlet Devil Mansion. So, head on back to the Human Village!

That's all for this bit of the guide. The next bit will cover getting to Eientei.
