PDP Shard of Dreams Guide Part 11: Scarlet Devil Mansion

Part 10 can be found here.

Welcome to Part 11!

So, starting from where we left off, which is the path leading up from Misty Lake with the little stump next to it. Head on up the path.

You'll get a little scene of Marisa breaking into Scarlet Devil Mansion, and you'll see Hong Meiling sleeping outside. Talk to her twice to get her to wake up. She'll fight you with a level 24 Cirno and a level 26 Meiling. Go to the left of her on the outside of the fence and pick up the YinYang Orb containing Skill Card 45. Now head on back to Meiling and enter the fenced in courtyard. Head on into the mansion itself, as there doesn't appear to be anything in the courtyard.

Remilia will stop you inside, before leaving through a door that we can't go through. Instead, head to the right until you see some stairs to go down. Head on down there, and in the next room, go through the door, bringing you to a storeroom. Partly hidden behind a cabinet here is a Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 66. In the bottom left corner is a box and if you interact with it you can fight a wild Marisa. Additionally, in the top right corner of the room is a trash can containing an Oath Thread.

Now, head on out of the room and up the steps again. Once in the entranceway again, head left. There's more stairs heading down, so take those, and again, go through the door in the next room. This brings you to the Library. You can't go right here because Marisa's blocking the way, so head up instead. Head up the steps and around to the next set of steps. Go down those. Keep going around to the next set of steps.

Koakuma will stop you as you head down the last set of steps, and fight you with a level 24 Tokiko, level 24 Daiyousei, and a level 24 Koakuma. Head past her and through the archways until you eventually get to Patchouli, who will fight you with a level 26 Alice and a level 28 Patchouli.

After defeating Patchouli, you can talk to her at any time to have her heal your Puppets. In the next "room" there's also a Akyuu Box. So guess what we'll be doing soon? Yup, grinding for a bit because the proximity to healing will be ideal.

Anyway, head up the steps from the Akyuu Box and around. Ignore the next set of steps and keep going down. You'll see a doorway, but ignore it for the second, and instead go left. Talk to Marisa, who will move out of the way, giving you easier access to Patchouli should you leave and come back.

Now head on through the door.

You're now in the Basement, which will be rather confusing if it's anything like the original game. Here you can capture Koakuma, Patchouli, Sakuya, Remilia (rare), and Flandre (very rare).
Be aware that Koakuma will sometimes escape from battle.

I highly recommend getting any catching done in the little alcove near the door. Don't go wandering off until you're fully healed and ready to go.

This is also a great place to level up a bit. I highly advise having your starter be 45+ if not level 50. Any Puppets you've had for a while should be approaching 40, and any Puppets you caught at Bamboo Forest/Eientei/Dream World/Lunar Capital should be at least level 30. Any Puppets you capture here get a break, but I do recommend getting them to at least 25 if you put them in your party. I also recommend having at least one Puppet in your party (besides your starter) be level 40 or above, as backup in case your starter gets knocked out at any point.

Once you're ready to move on, please follow my directions very carefully. I carefully checked every single route in the basement so I will make sure you will get every item in here.

Beginning from the entrance to the library, take the route up. Turn right when you can and keep going that way. When you get the opportunity to move down, do so. When you can move down again, do it. Fight the fairy maid with a level  24 Luna and a level 24 Cirno. Interact with the nearby trash can to pick up a Contract Thread. Head back up, and keep going right. There's a tiny hallway downwards, so go down there and pick up a Yin Yang Orb containing a Hematite Hairpin (raises the power of Steel-type attacks). Head back up again, and keep going right. When you get the chance to move up, do so. Fight the fairy maid with a level 25 Ruukoto, and then turn left. Up there is a potted tree. Interact with it to get a Paste of the Fog.

Now, head back down, and go left. Ignore the two paths going down since we've already done those. Keep on going until you get the opportunity to move up. Keep going, ignoring the chances to move right. In between two of those right-turns that you're not taking, there will be a fairy maid with a level 25 Daiyousei. When you can turn left, do so. Fight the fairy maid with a level 24 Star and a level 24 Daiyousei.  Pick up the nearby Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 34.

Go back to the right, and then go up. After a hallway, go through the two potted trees into the next area.

From this new area, head down and to the right. When you can turn up, do so. Here, there are three upward paths. Take the center one.  Now there's an identical room. This time, go right. One more identical room. This time, go left.

We're now in another room with three paths. Take the center one first. A Fairy Maid will fight you with a level 25 Sakuya. Up past her is a Yin Yang Orb containing an Oath Thread. Head back down, and take the left path. Up here is a door that you should go through.

In this next room, pick up the Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 27. Then head through the double doors at the other side of the room.

In this next room, there's a bed you can rest into restore your Puppets, and I would highly advise doing so. Also, in the cabinet at the top of the room you can interact with the right side to pick up an Ecstasy Set. When you're ready, exit through the right door.

Once out, head to the right, and approach the double doors at the top of the area. Sakuya will stop you and fight you with her level 28 Meiling, level 30 SakuyaS, and level 28 Ruukoto.

Now then, before entering those double doors, I would highly recommend heading back to the little door to your left to heal and save because we've got an area boss to defeat.

Through those double doors, you will run into Remilia, who will fight you with her level 30 SakuyaP, level 30 FlandreS, and level 33 RemiliaP.

After defeating her, Remilia gives you an item. I assume it's a book for Kosuzu. She will also now allow you to nickname Puppets that you show her, so that's nice. Also, head through the door behind her and pick up the Yin Yang Orb on the table containing a Fate Thread. This is the equivalent of a Master Ball in this game, except less valuable because you'll actually find several of them hidden throughout the game.

Now you can feel free to head back out and into the healing room again to heal, but then come back out here because there's a bunch of items to grab. Head to the right of the double doors and enter the small door. In here is a Yin Yang Orb containing an Amber Hairpin (increases power of Fighting-type attacks). Head out of the room and head left, past the healing room, and keep going left. There's a door there that you should enter.

Head down and the left, enter the door. Inside this room, enter the door in the top left. Head to the back of this next room and interact with the left side of the right cabinet to get a Chirei Bun. Head back out of both rooms, then go down, ignore the next left, and enter the door at the bottom of the room (it kind of looks like a window, but it's a door).

Head right, past the Fairy Maid, ignore the two doors, keep going. There's another door at the end of the hallway, upwards. Enter that. Once in, head up, ignore the first right, but take the second, and enter the door. Head through the next door, in the top right. There's a Yin Yang Orb in the top left of this room containing a Relief Charm (recovers Fear status effect). Also, interact with the left side of the right cabinet to get a Paste of the Fog. Exit the two rooms and head all the way back down and through the door.

Once back in the long hallway, head right and down the steps. Then go the left, past the downwards stairs, and you are now back at the entrance to the mansion and are free to leave. I recommend heading to the left though and entering the library again. From what I understand, speaking to Koakuma again will give you a book for Kosuzu, so you might want to do that. After that, feel free to head on out.

Please note that if you ever want to re-enter the mansion to rename your Puppets, you can freely come and go through the door directly across from the entrance instead of ever setting foot in the basement again (until post-game, that is).

Sorry this one took so long to write. I literally ran through the basement twice to make sure I got everything, and ran out of Talismans so I had to fight everything in my way. This version should be greatly improved from the original game's guide to this though!

  1. On the original game, I beaten Remilia with Keine, Reimu, and Sunny only.

I know this is different, but I only have 4 puppets with me. I wish this will do.

  2. Don't get why you suggest leveling your starter to 50 when the trainers are using puppets in the mid 20s. Being that overlevel'd is uneccessary and makes the game mega braindead
