PDP Shard of Dreams Guide Part 13: Forest of Magic North

Part 12 can be found here.

Now that we're done with Genbu Ravine, we have a couple places to explore. I think they're optional, but I'm not certain, so I'm including them with the main guide. Plus, the more experience and items, the better I think. The first one is Forest of Magic North, because it's the closest one. It's also the most confusing, so I decided to get it over with.

First thing's first, from the entrance to the tunnel to Genbu Ravine, head down. Keep on heading down until you get to an area where the ground is grass instead of stone, then head left to enter the Forest of Magic North. Cross the water below you.

As with other confusing areas in this game, please try to follow my directions precisely so I can get you to the items without losing you.

Head left first. You'll fight a brown-haired fairy with a level 27 Wriggle and a level 27 Rumia. There's a grassy patch to her left. In the grass here, you can capture Sunny, Luna, Star, and Ellen (rare). I'm pretty sure Alice can also be caught here, albeit rarely. I know she can be caught later into the forest for certain. What I've noticed is that I was able to get through the entire forest and encounter all the possible Puppets. I never had to actually run around and hunt for them. There's so much grass to go through that you'll probably find them, and if not, you can come always search after you've gotten the items here.

Anyway, head down. Don't turn right when you're able to, instead, keep going down. When you get to a bridge, cross it, and then head up. Keep going up. Fight the purple-haired fairy with a level 29 Lily. Continue up. In the grass, pick up the Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 14.

Now head back down to the bridge and cross it again. Head up again. When you can turn right, do, and cross the water. Continue on, and head down (ignore the step to the right). Fight the ghost girl with two level 26 Hinas and a level 26 Kogasa.

You'll get to a crossroads thing. Head left through some grass. A female Kappa will fight you with a level 26 Nitori, level 26 Wakasagi, and a level 26 Rika. In the mud below/next to her is a Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 30. Go back to the right to the crossroads, and head down next.

When you can turn left, do, and go across the bridge. Marisa's House is right here. If you head in there and up the steps in the back right, there's a bed you can use to heal. Head back over to the bridge, cross it, and head down. In the grass to the right is a Yin Yang Orb containing a Mushroom Powder.

Head down, go to the left slightly and fight the Ghost with a level 29 Lyrica. Then head down. Cross the bridge for an area change.

If I'm correct, in this area you can capture Alice, Rikako, Yuki, Marisa, and Mai. Not certain of rarities.

Continue on, and fight both Ghosts that you'll see. The left ghost uses a level 29 Yuyuko, and the right ghost uses a level 29 Merlin. Continue to the right until you get to another crossoads (one side has a jump ledge). Hop the ledge to the right and continue to the right. Keep going right until you see a giant tree. In front of it is a mushroom. Interact with the mushroom to obtain a Mushroom Powder.

Now head left, and down. When you can, turn right. In the middle of the grass is a Yin Yang Orb containing a Repetitive Arts. Head back, and move down. Fight the Sunflower Fairy with two level 26 Komchis and a level 26 Eiki. Down past her, go right. When you can, go right and down. Keep going right. Fight the Beast Youkai with a level 27 Ran and a level 27 Mamizou. Continue right. Fight the brown-haired fairy with a level 26 Rumia, level 26 Wriggle, and a level 26 Wakasagi.

Up past her is a Bunny with a level 29 Mamizou. Past her, in the grass, is a Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 80.

Head back to the Beast Youkai. Go left from her, ignore the first upward path, but take the second one. Go right when you can, then go up. Go right through all the grass to a Yin Yang Orb containing a Curing Charm. Head back out of the grass, and then go up. Continue on until you get to some water. The Yin Yang Orb right there contains Skill Card 68.  Enter the water and go all the way to the right until there's some land below you. Go there.

Head down and fight the old man with a level 27 Kasen and a level 27 Marisa. Continue along the linear path until you get to a place where you can choose a different direction. Go left first and keep going until you get to some water. Cross the water and pick up the Yin Yang Orb on the other side that contains a Vat of Poison. Head back to the crossroads and go up. Pick up the Yin Yang Orb up there that contains Skill Card 47.

Head all the way back the linear path, past the old man, to the water. Head left through the water, back to the land. Head down and keep going until you see water. Go left (ignore the water), and go up when you can. Go up until you see the giant tree again, then head left and up. Keep going up until you see some ledges, head up through the gap between them and keep going up. Keep on following that path until you get to a bridge and an area change.

Head up to the Ghost, then head right. Keep going straight right until you get to a screen change. There isn't really anywhere to go here besides straight. There's a brown-haired fairy over there that will fight you with two level 26 Cirnos and behind her is a Yin Yang Orb containing Skill Card 31. Head back to the left now to the screen change again.

Keep going left until you see the grass/ghost, then head up. Keep going up until you can't go up anymore, then go left, cross the water, then go up again. Keep going, then up again. Cross the water, and you're out of the forest.

There's a healing spot before we reach any more encounters, so don't bother heading back to Genbu Ravine.

  2. Near the end, when you see the giant tree again, it says to go right and then up. When i head right from the tree, there is no up. Is there any chance you could include pictures?
